UPDATE AS AT 7 JUL 23
This is to advise that I have completed another recon of the Murray River and the conditions along its banks and town foreshores remain damaged or are under repair. Many locations along the river remain closed.
It is for this reason, I am delaying my departure delayed from Albury until 18 November 2023. This will allow the river levels to subside and the banks and foreshores to dry out.
Thank you for your continued support and look forward to meeting you somewhere along the Murray
UPDATE
I am grateful to the followers and supporters of the PB LEGACY and her journey along the Murray.
Due to local flooding at the launch site in Albury, I was unable to depart as scheduled in August.
Since then, major flooding along the entire length of the Murray has caused devastating loss of personal property, local businesses and industries. Our priorities now are to support all those affected by the floods and to aid in their recovery.
My journey in the PB LEGACY has been delayed until 2023 on a date yet to be decided. In the meantime, I am continuing to support Legacy in other ways. Thank you for your continued support.
Major Michael Carroll is fundraising to support the vital work of Legacy. Major Carroll has fully funded and completed the building to scale of a small pedal powered paddle boat called The PB LEGACY which he will take down the Murray River from Albury in NSW to Mannum in South Australia, a distance of 2160 km. Fundraising has commenced and will continue until the completion of the journey. You can follow his journey on his web page pblegacy.online or on his Facebook page, The PB Legacy. You will be able to meet up with him along the river as shown in the itinerary. All donations are secure and tax deductible.
Due to the increase flooding of the Murray River from Albury and downstream caused by the heavy rainfall in that catchment area and the need to release water from the Hume Weir, the launch of the PB Legacy has been postponed. In some areas below Albury, the river has burst its banks and extends 200m beyond. It is expected that the launch will occur when flooding subsides.
To all my family, friends, and supporters and to Legacy, l greatly regret this delay but be assured that the PB Legacy will undertake her journey.
Thank you for your understanding
Michael
